Martin Andree teaches Media Studies at the University of Cologne.
He is the author of eight books and became known for writing „Atlas of the Digital World“, which contains the first holistic scientific survey of the digital world (2020). In 2023 his best-selling book „Big Tech Must Go!“ was published, for which he received the Günter Wallfraff Special Award for Freedom of Press and Human Rights.
Martin Andree is an internationally sought after expert, interview partner and guest author for leading media (a.o. ARD, ZDF, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Spiegel, FAZ) and conferences (a.o. International Journalism Festival Perugia, VOICES – European Festival of Journalism, re:publica, digital summit of the German federal government, Gamescom a.o.).
He studied at the University of Cologne and the University of Münster, and completed a research fellowship at the University of Cambridge (1996 / 1997). Between 2011 and 2015, he participated in an executive education program at Harvard Business School. In 2018, he earned his postdoctoral qualification (habilitation) in Media Studies at the University of Cologne.
Martin Andree is the founder of the digital company AMP Digital Ventures GmbH, which focuses on full funnel consulting and implementation.
